The wonders of the brain

It has now been proved that the brain recognizes fart and it leads to reduced blood pressure. It has been proved that just thinking about food makes people fat and it has been proved hat thinking about any gal not necessarily a sexy one causes increased production of testosterone.
It has been found that the brain needs long hours of sleep to perform at its best thereby concluding the debated that not sleeping at all is not the best option.
It has been proved that the brain uses the sleep time to build recall and involve in the processes which contribute to total recall and tie up memories and it leads to increased retention and creativity.
Exactly how the brain enhances memories remains a mystery, although we can make some guesses at the basic mechanism. We know that memories are created by altering the strengths of connections among millions of neurons, making certain patterns of activity more likely to recur. The patterns help in recall. Changes in synaptic strength are thought to arise from a molecular process known as long-term potentiating, which strengthens the connections between pairs of neurons that fire at the same time. Cell fires leading to recall.

The seven cardinal sins

These are considered to be the cardinal or the vital sins in this world.
Lust
Gluttony
Greed
Sloth
Wrath
Envy
Pride
At some point in time don’t we all do these sins. Don’t we all hog like crazy when we know that there are a dozen million people hungry in this country. Aren’t we all after the busty and the voluptuous women? Aren’t we guided and motivated by sex and the chance to bed the ultimate woman?
Aren’t we all greedy? The modern man always wants more and more. His longs for more and more keep increasing. We are never satisfied with our job or wife. We long for money and for the so called comforts and forget the ones we have.
Aren’t we all envious of our neighbors? How many of you have bought cars because that your neighbor has bought a new one. Haven't you looked at his house with envy?
Pride is considered a motivator in this modern world than as a sin.
So, are we all going to hell? Are these just written rules that are never followed??

Racial Discrimination

My African American friend recently told me about this incident which happened to her. A man suddenly called her out saying sister. Just because she was black and the man was black does it necessitate him calling her sister? Is not this a subtle form of racism. Is it not an announcement that she is black and colour is important? Is this not against which Martin Luther king fought? She also faced some looks from her friends’ children who called her a black. Does this signify something deeper? She calls all people either as deniers or ignorant. Some think that racism is not present and others think that overt forms such as burning houses and preventing rights are racism too. She considers both these form equally irritating, for it is her right to live and colour is not her identity. She is her identity. It’s her world too. For God created colour. If being a black casts a stigma in this society however subtle, is it worth it? Even with a half black president of the US, are covert forms of recognition of colour and giving weight age to the colour of the skin rather than the intelligence, a common criteria? Think

Servlets

What exactly are servlets?
We have heard this term so many times.
Servlets are the java classes that run at the server end.Servlets extend the functionality of the server.Common implementation of request-response model is between WWW browser and the WWW servers. When the user sends the request, it is processed at the server side by the servlet on behalf of the client.Server that executes the servlet is referred to as the servlet container or servlet engine.
Life cycle begins with loading of the servlet by the init()
method in response to the first request.
All requests are handled by the service() method. It processes the request and send the response to the client.Method service is called once per request. Each of the new requests create a thread of execution(created by servlet container). Destroy() method is called to release the resources used by the servlet.

Number 23

There is a movie by the name "Number 23". A Jim Carrey starer! A very haunting movie and this movie is unlike the usual Jim Carrey movies. It is the story of a man who turns wild as he reads a novel. He finds the novel striking a similarity with his life. The detective in the novel he reads is haunted by the number 23 and the reader, Jim Carrey also starts feeling the same way with 23. The movie is an excellent thriller and ultimately haunts you! Believe me or not, I mechanically start applying mathematical operations over the numbers in the number boards of vehicles on the road and start checking if it leads me to 23. That is how haunting the movie can get! Kudos to Jim's acting in the movie and the exceptional screenplay! The film's screenplay is the catch. Very imaginative and racy screenplay makes this movie very special in its own way. If you see this movie once, I am sure that you will feel like watching this movie again for the finer details. You search for any flaw in the movie and you will not find even one. That's the amount of effort that has been put into this movie and the movie is worth watching a second time.

Java!

Java is now widely used for programming games and for designing websites. The advantage that Java holds over the traditional C and C++ is that it has a wide range of user related operations which are absent in C and C++. The User Interface options in Java are much better and this makes it the perfect language for designing games. After all, the success of a game depends on how it interfaces with the user. The String handling functions in Java are so easy to use and this makes it easy to interact with the user! The graphics support that Java renders to the users is unmatched and the ease with which the user can work with this platform independent language is simply amazing! Along with giving some advanced functionalities to the users, Java also makes sure that it provides the various Object Oriented Concepts like Polymorphism, Encapsulation etc. Java is an advanced language. The graphical support that it gives to the users is unequaled. The ease of coding is another important aspect of Java. The coding time is reduced and that too with some advanced Java softwares like NetBeans, coding in Java is all the more fun!

Precision imaging

Precision imaging is the latest development in the medical field. Using a scan, the doctor is able to form an image of the internal organs of the patient. Using Precision imaging the doctors are able to give the patients a definite diagnosis. An electrocardiogram cannot give the precise location of blocks in the blood vessels of the heart, while Precision imaging can! Not just for the heart, it can be used for treatment of brain tumors too. With Precision Imaging, you get a complete picture of the entire anatomy of the human body and hence you can find where exactly the problem is! This new development in technology is certainly a boon to doctors! Just imagine a photograph of your heart in front of you! It will be so very easy to work on the heart or brain for the doctors if they have a picture in front of them. This technology is a boon to doctors as well as patients. The doctors will get to know if they are proceeding in the correct direction and if the surgery is on the road to success. This certainly is bound to increase the success rates of surgeries and to curtail the time taken for the surgeries. Hope the doctors make the best use of this technology and save many many lives!

Inter-bank banking!

At any given time, banks have different Short-term financing requirements. The inter-bank market is the market between banks. In the inter-market bank, banks can borrow from, or lend to each other to meet their short term needs. These transactions are secured against collateral. The commonly used collateral are government bonds. But the market has seized up a bit now, because of uncertainty about the value of some of the collateral! Therefore, it is important to verify the authenticity of the collateral used. One must know that though banks are lenders of money, they themselves could be borrowers! After all, every bank is as a lender as well as a borrower! Jokes apart, this is one of the most efficient ways of rotating money. It's somewhat like, everyone's money for everyone. Though you don't have money for yourself, you get money when you need it. If large number of settlements are to be made in any particular point in time, a bank can borrow money from other banks and can repay it when it gets the money back. This is the way in which most nationalized banks function and this is indeed a very efficient and fruitful policy for the banks. They don't have to reject customer requests for with drawl of huge amounts of money owing to shortage of funds with the bank!

The Badshah of Cricket

The God of Cricket! The Little Master! The Master Blaster! The King of Strokes! Yes, Undoubtedly the one and only Sachin Tendulkar. He scales yet another peak in cricket. He scored 88 runs in the first innings of the second test against Australia. In scoring those 88 runs, he also became the world's highest run getter in test cricket. He broke Brian Lara's record and became the leading run scorer in Test Cricket. Now, Sachin holds the record for the most runs and most centuries in both ODI cricket and Test Cricket. He has been playing for over 19 years now and has been playing exceptionally well all through the 19 years. He has made some real good contributions and some important knocks when the team needed them. He has undoubtedly remained the king of Indian Cricket! It is always a treat to watch the little master in action. The delightful strokes that he plays are of top class. It will be difficult to imagine a cricketing world without Sachin in it. The intensity with which each of his strokes are played is unbelievable.Sachin is hinting at playing till the Cricket World Cup in 2011. Let's hope that he plays till 2011 and breaks many more records!
